Hi I’m Lynne – a native Glaswegian and a proud Scot. I studied at Aberdeen University and worked in the Western Isles, the Scottish Borders and in one of my favourite places, Aberdeenshire, before settling back in my home city.

I’m not biased at all but Scotland is probably the best wee (small) country in the world. Its vast, rugged landscapes will leave you spellbound; its colourful history will enthral you; its heritage and culture will intrigue and delight you.  Its rich natural larder (not to mention those famous and up-and-coming distilleries) offers much to savour and, of course, its friendly people will keep you laughing and entertained with tales, legends and naturally some (dubious) humour. 2022 is the Year of Stories and we have plenty to tell…

… Stories about our kings and queens, about how industry shaped who we are today, about Scots pioneers and inventors and their impact on the world. I have a passion for our castles, imposing but majestic, and our incredible architecture.  I am a volunteer guide for the National Trust for Scotland at The Hill House in Helensburgh on the Clyde estuary, a house designed by Scotland’s most famous architect – Charles Rennie Mackintosh … and I know a few excellent golf courses too, having been brought up in a golfing family.

Let me welcome you to those places you have always wanted to visit, as well as to lesser known gems along the way – be it a day trip to Loch Lomond, an extended tour to the West Coast and the Islands, a fun walking tour in Glasgow or a visit to one of our many beautiful gardens.  Or … why not experience a scenic railway journey in the Highlands or discover the castle trail of Aberdeenshire or those iconic film and Outlander locations? I’ll introduce you to local artisan produce, arts and crafts as we go. I am able to tailor the tour to your interests and at your pace.

Scotland is fascinating and fun. Once visited, you’ll want to keep coming back.  There’s more to Scotland than you think.

WHAT MAKES ME SPECIAL

My biggest passion is what our ancestors got up to here, there and everywhere.

tour with me because

it’s fun. There’s so much to see and tell,  wherever you go.  So many stories!

WHAT I’M LIKE

My friends say I have a dry sense of humour but am kind and look out for people.

FAVOURITE SCOTTISH FOOD

My favourite Scottish food has to be Cullen Skink – smoked fish soup made with milk and onions. It’s a speciality of Cullen, a small town on the north east coast of Scotland.

AN OBSCURE FACT

Back in the day I was one of six teenage girls who spent 4 days camping in the wilds of Glencoe with our teachers. My rucksack was so heavy, I could not stand up straight. To find my balance, I trudged across Rannoch Moor carrying a heavy tin of potatoes. I never really saw the moor, just a huge aluminium catering pack.

FAVOURITE SCOTTISH SONG

I can’t decide between Caledonia by Dougie McLean, a song about being homesick for Scotland, or The Rose of Kelvingrove, a popular piping tune.  Stirring stuff if played by the massed pipes and drums. I become emotional listening to both.

FAVOURITE PLACE

Again, so difficult but I have always loved a big long walk along Aberdeen beach. Beautiful golden sands – exhilarating and blustery, even on a fine day. There are several ice cream parlours to visit whatever the weather.
